If an accident causes injury or death, the drivers involved must provide emergency assistance, notify the police and preserve evidence at the scene. Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act, Article 62

If it is safe, photographs can capture vehicle positions, damage, lane markings and signals. Original dashcam files should be preserved. Record the case details and the handling officer’s contact information, and arrange medical records and receipts by date. These are practical steps, not a full list of legal requirements.

Police records can be requested in stages

You can request the participant registration sheet at the scene, scene diagrams and photographs after seven days, and the preliminary analysis sheet after thirty days. These are application times, not guaranteed delivery dates. National Police Agency FAQ

The NPA’s national portal accepts applications only if police attended the accident and someone was injured or killed. For accidents involving only property damage, or if authentication is difficult, contact the police unit handling the case. The paperwork follows you home

Documents and notices still need a way to reach you after you leave Taiwan. Someone may be authorized to collect the records without being authorized to litigate. Certain civil acts, including settlement, require special authority. If you file a criminal complaint, you may still be required to attend in person even if you appoint an agent.
